Implementation, practice and evidence: From practitioner experience to evidence

1:00 PM - 1:20 PM

Abstract

The Pyramid Model is an evidence based social-emotional skills promotion framework for use in early childhood services and families. It has been used very extensively in America and has recently become enthusiastically embraced by some early educators in various early childhood service contexts in Australia. This paper will examine the experiences of early educators whilst exploring the use of the Pyramid Model in their practices which have lead to their enthusiastic adoption, some of the practice gaps that have been identified from their perspectives and the possible relationships between adoption and the evidence base for Pyramid Model. Intended and unintended consequences of implementation of new practices will be discussed in relation to implementation evidence from a practitioner perspective.
