Abstract

The field of behavioural genetics is developing quickly, with findings from such research having profound implications for helping children with learning and behavioural difficulties. This paper will review the field for current practitioners, with a focus on the practical implications for work in schools and other settings where psychologists undertake interventions to help people to develop and learn better.

Biography

Paul is an Educational & Developmental Psychologist who has worked in a wide range of settings. In schools, he has worked from pre-Kinder programs through to Grade 12. He is currently a Senior School Psychologist with the Department of Education in Tasmania. He has also worked in health settings, in early assessment and intervention and child & adolescent mental health. He currently also has a private practice, and provides supervision for psychologists and other professionals. Paul is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and a past Chair of the CEDP.
