Person centred learning: Improving student engagement using an individualised approach to education

Abstract

Students with well-developed, stable patterns of engagement in primary school respond successfully to challenges in high school, maintain high levels of well-being and achieve academic success. Student engagement however, is multifaceted, involving environmental characteristics and complex cognitive processes that are not well understood. In this presentation, Toby will discuss important mechanisms underpinning student engagement and bring into focus the significance of understanding student engagement from a biopsychosocial perspective.
