The psychology graduate program – supporting psychology registrars’ transition to health professional.
1:20 PM - 1:40 PMSummary
The new Psychology Graduate and Registrar program is a structured and competency-based group supervision program that commenced in early 2017 at Monash Health, Victoria. It is designed to assist psychology registrars to meet their supervision and professional development requirements and ensure they have developed the competencies that PsyBA requires they demonstrate. This study aimed to explore the impact of the group supervision program on psychology graduates and registrars’ experiences as new health professionals. Psychology registrars (mostly clinical and neuropsychology) attending the group program were invited to attend a focus group, facilitated by a psychology researcher. Primary supervisors of registrars were also invited to attend a separate focus group to evaluate the needs of those supervising registrars, and how these were met by their supervisees’ participation in the group supervision program in addition to their individual supervision. Clinical and neuropsychology registrars from both Monash Health and other health services across Australia will also separately be invited to complete an anonymous Qualtrics survey. These survey data and the full data set from the focus groups will be presented.
