Biography

Michelle has had 20 years’ experience working in the area of educational and developmental psychology including working in the public and private schools as well as in a mental health setting to support children and adults in being able to access mental health services in rural and remote areas. Michelle is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist and exiting Chair of the NSW Committee of the Australian Psychological Society College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. Michelle is an authorised supervisor and have supported over 150 provisional psychologists to complete their registration. Michelle has also lectured and tutored Master of Education students in subjects including educational psychology, adolescent development and inclusion support. Her passion is helping children with learning difficulties and disabilities especially in the area of assessment and diagnosis as well as helping them access the social and emotional support they may need.

Biography

Janet Conti is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and and Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning at Western Sydney University. Janet's clinical experience informs her research that prioritises giving voice to peoples’ experiences of anorexia nervosa (AN) and other Eating Disorders (EDs) and their experience of its treatment. She has contributed to pedagogical shifts in Western Sydney University’s Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Professional Psychology programs to increase students’ skills development across a range of therapeutic interventions; to increase awareness and sensitivity to cultural and individual diversity in ways that optimise client voice and appropriate response; and to engage in reflective practice early in the training to ensure an active participation in their professional development. Her teaching pedagogy is fundamentally based on respect and engaged, value-based experiential classroom learning that invites reflective practice in the building of professional identity.

Biography

Antoinette Hodge is a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with over 25 years experience in the clinical and research roles. Her clinical and research interests include neurodevelopmental differences, teleassessments and rural and remote communities. She is a co-author of over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals. She is a guest lecturer for a number of university postgraduate clinical psychology/clinical neuropsychology programs. She is a co-chair of the Neurodevelopment Subcommittee of the Australian Paediatric Neuropsychology Research Network.

Prof Ian Kneebone

Biography

Ian is a clinical psychologist and Head of Discipline (Clinical Psychology) at the University of Technology Sydney and a visiting professor at the University of Surrey. He leads the clinical psychology training at UTS. Ian has worked in clinical practice for over 25 years, in WA, the UK and NSW. Ian’s research contributions focus on understanding psychosocial impacts of disability and how those that are undesirable might be ameliorated. He has published over 150 peer reviewed research papers. Ian was the 2019 recipient of the Australian Psychological Society, College of Clinical Psychologists Ian M Campbell Memorial Prize which is awarded annually to an APS member who has made an outstanding contribution to the scientific or professional status of clinical psychology in Australia. In 2021 he received the Australian Psychological Society, Rehabilitation Psychology of Injury, Chronic Illness and Pain Interest Group Professional Practice Award.

Dr Justine Stynes

Biography

Dr Stynes is a senior lecturer in the School of Behavioural and Health Sciences at ACU. She teaches into units that focus on sport, exercise and health psychology in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her research has focused on the wellbeing of coaches and athletes (including stress, burnout and coping), off-field player development, and supporting student-athletes. As a sport psychologist Dr Stynes has worked with athletes and coaches at junior through to senior levels (professional, Commonwealth and Olympic Games) in variety of sports including rugby union, judo, golf, athletics/sprinting, tennis, softball and swimming.
