Biography

Hello, I am Wassan an early career psychologist working in Occupational Rehabilitation and in a Clinic. I completed a double in Social Developmental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience and Health Psychology and worked in Support Work prior to becoming a Provisional Psychologist. I completed my 4 + 2 pathway at the end of 2022 with Rehab Management. I predominantly work with individuals insured under Commonwealth, including members of the Australian Federal Police, ABC, NDIA and Services Australia. I also work with clients from Department of Veteran Affairs, Transport and Accident Commission and WorkSafe including Victoria Police. I often assist these organisations with safety planning and providing psychoeducation to better equip them to support employees experiencing mental health issues. I have a passion for rehabilitating highly complex clients with trauma, psychotic, and/or mood disorders helping them to overcome vocational and non-vocational obstacles. I have presented at various forums and to different organisation emphasising the importance of a biopsychosocial and whole-person approach in mental health injury claims. I have recently obtained my mediation qualification and have been nominated for the 2024 Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association Outstanding achievement in RTW – Psychological Claim (VIC).

Biography

Prof Linda Byrne is the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Cairnmillar Institute (CMI). She is registered psychologist with an area of endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology and has over 25 years of clinical, research and teaching experience in the areas of psychological assessment, neuropsychiatric disorders, neuropsychological disorders, and neuropsychological rehabilitation. Prof Byrne has extensive experience in training and supervising post-graduate psychology students. She has coordinated post-graduate training programs for many years. Professor Byrne’s clinical work focuses on the neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults with neurological, psychiatric, and educational difficulties. Her major area of research is in the understanding and remediation of neuro- and social cognitive deficits in clinical disorders. More recently Professor Byrne’s research has been focusing on agents that may protect or improve cognitive functioning in both healthy and compromised populations. She has been a member of the APAC AAC since 2023.

Biography

Tina Fersterer is a registered psychologist with a Master’s degree in educational and developmental psychology. For more than 20 years, Tina has developed broad experience supporting children with special needs and their families in the early intervention and disability sectors, private practice and school settings. Tina spent 10 years working in the education sector initially as a psychologist and later as the sector’s Team Leader for Behaviour Support and Interventions. In this role, Tina was instrumental in introducing School Wide Positive Behaviour Support to the sector and assisted schools to develop processes and practices to support students with social emotional learning needs and disabilities. Over the past 7 years Tina has continued her private practice, has cowritten a chapter for the Australian Handbook of School Psychology, while also working as an advisor for the APS Professional Advisory Service.

Biography

Hello, I am Dianne an early career psychologist and member of the APS Perinatal and Infant Psychology Interests group. I finished my 4+2 pathway at the end of 2021. Prior to becoming a psychologist I worked as a psychology and visual arts teacher across primary and high schools in Victoria. Since becoming registered as a psychologist I have been on a path to find a variety of therapeutic modalities to support my clients best. I have completed my Certification in Clinical EFT (also known as tapping). Clinical EFT is now my main modality used in my Telehealth private practise in Echuca. I have a passion for working with mothers, parents and families. I often support individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma and stress during the perinatal and parenting period of life. Education is important, I am therefore developing some educational classes/ courses about Clinical EFT in my second business ‘Birth and Beyond Australia.’ I love supporting people to achieve their goals and live a thriving life!!
