Biography

Dr Caroline Diamond BPsych(Hons) DPsych(Clin) JCU Clinical Lead (Clinical Psychologist) Child & Youth Mental Health Service | Statewide Mental Health Services Caroline qualified as a psychologist in 1998 and obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2015. Her clinical and research interests are in early childhood mental health, especially parental reflective functioning. Caroline has worked exclusively with children and families in disability, mental health, acute women’s health and primary health. After 17 years with Queensland Health, she joined the Tasmanian Health Service in 2018. Caroline is the Clinical Lead for the new integrated Head to Health Kids Hub at tagari lia Child and Family Learning Centre at Bridgewater.

Biography

Emma holds a Masters in Applied Psychology and is a Sport and Exercise Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience in the high-performance sporting industry working with elite, professional and Olympic athletes and teams across many sporting codes. Her role draws on her expertise in embedding wellbeing in high performance environments to inform policy, education and best practice initiatives to enhance the wellbeing and performance of AFL and AFLW players. Emma leads the Talent wellbeing coordinators in Tasmania and provides practice leadership in player development, mental health and wellbeing across all AFL and AFLW Clubs. She also leads the Mental Health Referral Network for Club Doctors and Psychologists.

Biography

Amy completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology and subsequently became endorsed as a clinical psychologist. She has been practicing for 10 years with experience across both the public and private sectors, with a large portion of time spent working within the prison system. Currently, Amy works for Forensicare as a psychology educator providing supervision and support to clinical psychology registrars undertaking their area of practice endorsement, and coordination of student placements across the organisation. Alongside this, Amy continues to provide direct clinical work to consumers within the hospital arm of Forensicare. Additionally, Amy has commenced a Graduate Diploma of Forensic Psychology in order to strengthen her knowledge and skills in the area of forensic psychology, and gain endorsement in this area of practice also.

Biography

Darren has 20 years as a Senior School Psychologist with DECYP, and 10 years in Private Practice. He is the former Advisor to the APS for Psychologists in Schools, establishing the Psychologists in Schools interest group, and was instrumental in producing many of the documents guiding school practice. Darren is was also on the Psychologists Registration Board Tasmania and participated in the transition to national registration. He was involved in the campaign for Medicare access, and efforts to increase the number of School Psychologists in Tasmania and nationally. He continues to be passionate about supervision and clinical governance to ensure our service to the public is of the highest standard possible.

Biography

Associate Professor Leesa Van Niekerk is the Director of the University Psychology Clinics (UPC) located within the University of Tasmania's Sandy Bay and Newnham campuses. She teaches and supervises within the postgraduate psychology training programs in the areas of assessment, intervention, ethics, and professional practice. Leesa conducts research in the areas of persistent pelvic pain, interpersonal relationships, emotional and sexual intimacy, gender and sexual diversity, and compassion. Leesa is also a registered Clinical Psychologist, with more than 20 years of clinical experience across a range of government, educational, and private settings. She is a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) approved supervisor, providing supervision to provisionally registered psychologists and psychologists completing their area of practice endorsement (AoPE Clinical) pathway.
