Details

This supervisor training masterclass will address the principles, frameworks, and skills of reflective practice in supervision and strategies to build supervisee skills of self-evaluation and reflection. The discussions will differentiate reflective supervision from an expert consultant/problem solving supervision. It will also reflect upon different supervision inputs, such as giving and receiving feedback, and applying reflective practice to personal, ethical and professional issues, in the supervisory relationship and the supervisee’s practice. Participants will learn and explore ways in which they can apply reflective practice and relationship skills with the supervisee in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the supervision plan, and manage difficult conversations in supervision. Taking an experiential learning approach and working in small groups, participants will have the opportunity to discuss, role-play and receive feedback and support from their peers to build their confidence and skill in the management of a range of scenarios and issues in supervision. At the completion of the training, participants should be able to: • Demonstrate skills in reflective practice in a supervision setting • Demonstrate skills in enhancing supervisees’ reflective practice skills for learning and self-assessment • Demonstrate skills in conducting difficult conversations with supervisees • Outline how reflective practice fits into competency-based supervision • Identify peer support networks with other supervisors This workshop is in addition to the conference and separate paid registration is required.
