Eco-anxiety to Eco-empowerment: How to think about the future with climate change.
10:55 AM - 11:15 AMPromotional description
The catastrophic bushfires and then a global pandemic have shown us a glimpse of our future in a world beset by climate change and zoonotic diseases. Eco-anxiety and a fear for our future is a pretty normal response but can leave us paralysed and feeling helpless.
In this talk experiential futurist attendees will be taken through how our brains think about the future, why it has been difficult for humans to take action on climate change and how we can reframe our eco-anxiety to take the action we need to.

Learning outcomes
At the conclusion of the event attendees will:
- Understand the latest literature from the fields of Futures Studies and Foresight covering how people are thinking about futures under climate change
- Understand and be able to determine which generic future / dominant future narrative exists within organisations or individuals
- Gain insight into the impact of each dominant narrative on decision making
- Understand tools for combatting eco-anxiety and reframing narratives of futurity
Expectation of attendee:
- As it is a TED style talk attendees will be invited to reflect on their own thinking but not asked to interact
